I’m Michelle Shonessy, a freelance writer in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
I specialize in business communications and copy editing. Having worked with clients from a variety of industries, I offer a fresh, broad-based perspective. Whatever the project, and whether your purpose is to inform, to persuade, to sell, or to render complex, industry-specific terminology into everyday language – I can do it. I'm detail oriented and quickly master new subjects, technology, and procedures - a must for staying current in today's climate of continuous change.
While earning my B.S. in Organizational Communication, I focused my studies on business writing and technical communication. I supplemented these studies with coursework in marketing communication and new media. My academic work applied and enhanced the business education I received concurrently working in the areas of finance, insurance, workers compensation and real estate law.
When my college English department awarded me a writing fellowship, I was given the opportunity to tutor dozens of students across curricula on an array of writing projects. This experience combined my interests in writing and working with others. The opportunity to collaborate on subjects outside my own major allowed me to continually indulge my love of learning. I decided I wanted to make my living this way and found my career.
Because of my diverse background, I'm often in a position to recognize competitive advantages and strategically target marketing efforts. Since I’m familiar with the culture of many industries, I’m able to intuitively assume the appropriate tone for different projects.
I believe that authentic, genuine communication inspires trust. And I believe that if you deliver consistent, targeted messages, you can effect real change - change to opinions, decisions, attitudes and the bottom line.
